Submitted by admin on Fri, 01/18/2008 - 6:53pm.
Details about the 2010 Novice Program should be posted by the end of March. If you are planning to take our Learn to Row Lessons, this will be your program when you have completed them.
The Head Coach of the Novice programs is Jim Ewrin.
Assistant coach is Anne Strobridge
Message from the coaches:
Welcome! As part of the coached novice program, you'll be one of the newest members in the Rocky Mountain Rowing Club (RMRC). As your rowing coach, my emphasis will be on safety and fun, in the process of gaining an appreciation of the sport of rowing. You'll row "sweep" in our "eight" person rowing shell, steered by a coxswain, and in sweep oared "fours". Once the weather and water warm up, you may choose to learn to row a single sculling boat. One of our goals this year is for you to race in at least one regatta! Before you know it, you'll be in love with this great sport!
- Jim Erwin, Novice Coach
Jim was a member of the University of California Irvine NCAA men's rowing team from 1972-1975, and was coached by Bob Ernst and John Davis. He has been a member of the RMRC rowing club since 2004 and is a US Rowing certified Level II Coach.
Anne learned to row at Rocky Mountain Rowing Club in 2005, progressed through the novice, intermediate and competitive programs. She's a US Rowing certified Level II coach.
