The focus of the RMRC college program is on small boats (singles, doubles, pairs) and will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 am to 8:30 am at the RMRC rowing base beginning June 13th. A flip test will be the pre-requisite to rowing a single. The goal of the summer program is for the student rower to become accomplished at rowing small boats.
We will alternate between running and watching videos of our rowing in the morning from 6:30 am to 7:00 am, and be on the water rowing from 7:15 am to 8:30 am. The $100 summer season program fee include a coached morning sculling session with Brad Lewis, Olympic gold medalist in the men's double scull event, 1984 Los Angeles Olympic games on Friday June 17th. Race strategy and training will also be covered.
In addition to rowing practice days, there will be the opportunity (but not the requirement) for two road trip events this summer, the Lake Dillon Challenge in Frisco, Co (late July or early August) and either the Row the Rockies regatta (July 16th) or the Boulder Sprints (June 25th). We will focus on maintaining our aerobic base with long steady state pieces, as well as having the opportunity to practice our starts at 1,000 meter sprint races on Fridays.
There is a "cap" of 10 students in the summer program. Paperwork (membership in RMRC and completion of the liability waiver) as well as payment on line through "Pay Pal" is the pre-requisite to the program along with a desire to improve one's rowing and overall fitness.
