The goal of the Intermediate program is to provide coaching for intermediate rowers (those with at least one season of rowing experience) and rowers with only sweep experience (we’ll introduce you to sculling). Anyone who wants workouts to improve their skills and conditioning in a friendly and social environment is welcome. All sizes of boats will be used, sweep and sculling, from singles to the 8+, with men, women, and mixed crews.

The Intermediate Program is coached in conjunction with the Novice Program on Tuesday and Thursday morning, from 5:30-7:00 AM, June 3 - September 25, 2008. The cost of the program for 2008 is $175. Membership is also required. Participants in the intermediate program have priority for use of club boats on the mornings the program meets.

Intra-club competitions dubbed the "Friday Friendlies" will be held at 5:30 a.m. on Fridays, May 9- August 29 with 1000m and longer pieces.   Friday Friendlies are open to everyone in the club whether you are in a coached program or not.  So, come out and join us!

The Head Coach of the Novice/Intermediate programs is Grace Malacrida.  Grace has this to say about coaching:  "I am a certified US Rowing Level II coach. I have taught Beginner Lessons; coached Juniors and Master Rowers.  I learned to sweep row at Rutgers University in 1981, and am a current competitive rower both on the water and on the 'dreaded' erg.  I am completely addicted to the sport and am looking forward to coaching this summer."

Assistant Coach Kati O'Hara learned to row with the University of Kansas in the late 80's, and then went on to help the brand new University of Colorado crew while in graduate school in 93-94 as a competitor and coach. Kati joined RMRC in '98 and has been competing on the water across the country ever since.  In addition, Kati has taught taekwondo for a number of years and sells real estate when not coaching!
